What can I expect in my Farm Fresh Box?

We grow a wide range of produce at Hedrick Family Farm, and because it is grown locally, you'll be enjoying each season's specialty.

In your first few boxes, you'll be enjoying spring's crops, such as our lettuce blend, green onions, kale, spinach, gourmet greens mix, radishes, bok choi, swiss chard, broccoli, and kohlrabi.

As summer begins, you'll also have cucumbers, yellow summer squash, a variety of tomatoes (including heirlooms) & cherry tomatoes, cabbage, a variety of peppers including bell peppers, snacking peppers & hot peppers, eggplant, green beans, zucchini, carrots, garlic scapes, and sweet corn!

As summer progresses, you'll also have watermelon, cantaloupe, raspberries, and blackberries! In addition, we'll be growing fresh basil, parsley, dill, and cilantro for your box!

In early fall, you'll see the greens, broccoli, lettuce, beets, radishes, kale, and carrots all come back sweeter than before! This is when your box will also have winter squash and sweet potatoes!

What if I don't like one (or more) of those vegetables?

That is no problem! Simply let us know which vegetable(s) you prefer not to have in your box. We will also offer recipes for vegetables with which you may be unfamiliar.

How is a Farm Fresh Box subscription different from a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture)?

Our Farm Box is a type of CSA. By purchasing our Farm Fresh Box, you are supporting a local farm, receiving fresh produce and strengthening your community.

What if I am going to be out of town when my box is supposed to arrive?

You have a few options in this case. You can arrange to have a friend or relative pick it up from your house or our farm. We're sure they would appreciate the fresh produce. You can also have us donate it to the food pantry. You can make arrangements to pick up your box if it only a few days or you can cancel your delivery that week, and receive an extra week at the end of the season.

I live outside of Crawfordsville, but would like a weekly Farm Fresh Box, how can I receive one?

We deliver to anyone within 5 miles of Crawfordsville. If you are outside of that area, you are welcome to come pick up your Farm Box at our farm (just 3 miles from town)! We can also meet you in Crawfordsville. Give us a call and we can make arrangements.

Can I visit your farm?

We welcome our members to visit the farm! Simply give us a call to arrange a day and time.

I prefer to pay by check or cash. How can I do that?

Simply give us a call, or drop it in the mail. We are happy to accept either option. You can also stop by our booth at the Crawfordsville Farmers' Market from late April-October.

How can I add other items to my subscription?

Farm Fresh Box members can easily add other items to their box, such as our Free Range Eggs. Visit our website before 12:00 p.m. on Monday, and purchase your desired items. We'll add them to your delivery on Tuesday.
